Adolfo Natalini was born in Pistoia in 1941. After his experience as a painter, (which is still reflected in his constant use of drawings in his profession as architect), he graduated in architecture at Florence University in 1966 and founded Superstudio,  which gave birth to the so called “radical architecture”, one of the most important avant-garde movements of the sixties and seventies. Superstudio’s designs have appeared in publications and exhibitions all over the world and it’s works now form part of collections such as the Museum of Modern Art in New York, the Israel Museum in Jerusalem, the Deutsche Architekturmuseum in Frankfurt am Main and the Centre Pompidou in Paris.

He is a full professor at the Faculty of Architecture of Florence University and an honorary member of the BDA, ( Bund Deutscher Architekten) German Architects,  of the Accademia delle Arti del Disegno in Florence and of the Accademia di San Luca.

Fabrizio Natalini (no relation), was born in Florence in 1953, graduated in architecture in 1980 and started working with Superstudio in 1971 and with Adolfo Natalini in 1981.

In 1991 he formed the studio NATALINI ARCHITECTS with Fabrizio Natalini at “Salviatino” in Florence.

Architectural office map architetti has been founded in 2004, after a five-year collaboration between its co-founders. The office is dealing with the architectural design in all its scales, from architectural and interior design to urban design, public spaces and landscaping, Map architetti has realized projects for public and private clients and participated in national and international competitions, receiving awards and recommendations, investigating themes related to buildings for culture, public spaces, schools and housing. Some of the works of the office are rewarded in competitions, displayed on art and architecture shows and published on architecture reviews. The office’s members undertake teaching activities at the University of Florence and also partecipate in international designing workshops.

The structure based in Florence is an international network  for architecture planning and design, with branches in Amsterdam (Holland), Leipzig (Germany). The network has a long standing collaboration with structural engineers Alessandro Chimenti, (S.IN.TER. Ltd.), Florence, and other structural engineering and project development and management companies both in Italy and Holland. (Fiatengineering, Turin, Vastgoed Engineers and M.A.B. Ltd., The Hague, Holland). We also have a team of consultants including services engineers, landscape architects and specialist consultants for aspects including acoustics, security, traffic management and access for the disabled. This integrated structure  allows to respond efficiently and professionally to a variety of project types, both nationally and internationally, from feasibility studies and urban masterplans through to detail design and project management, encompassing all the relevant European standards. Carrying out the design experience, collaboration and consultation together with engineers and project managers, the network has developed a marked attitude to aspects of architectural coordination and specific technical competences pertaining to diverse sectors of the construction process, allowing their insertion into the process at the very earliest stages. These diverse technical necessities are therefore seen as having active values at the very beginning of the architectural design process and can be subsequently developed along parallel lines. The same integrated approach to the process of architectural design has been consolidated with the completion of important international projects, the experience gained allowing an evaluation of this system of integration to be made periodically. Professional consultants are usually chosen specifically to respond to the requirements of place and the client programme.

In the operative sense this type of structural network has a flexibility allowing it to respond to any particular type of design intervention according to a series of prerequisites: The analysis of the characteristics of the intervention. The analysis of relevant consultants required. Selection and integration into the project team. Development and coordination of the preliminary project design. Team feedback meetings and subsequent development of project. This objective methodology and the active participation of all relevant consultants at the outset allows for a project development which clearly translates the integrated input of all professionals into the architectural image.
